Burt's Bees has other baby ointment but make sure you get the one with the red "maximum strength" label. It is nice and thick and sticks well to their sore behinds. The only thing we found OTC that helped was Burt's Bees Baby Bee Diaper Rash ointment. We battled diaper rash a lot when our daughter was a few months old. assuming you haven't tried these tricks yet. The aquafor will protect and let the skin heal. Coat the whole area so the poop doesn't even touch his bottom. It's hard to wash off and best applied with a nitrile glove, but sure helped minimize the irritation. ![]() It's a "skin protectant" - you put it on to keep the irritating poo off the skin. Our third baby was born premature and the staff in the NICU recommended an ointment called Resinol, saying it was the best there was for diaper rash without a prescription. Anything with acidopolous like is in yogurt works wonders. I have used yogurt and buttermilk to create bacteria. Need to treat the cause, not the symptom. Have you tried resinol? It's not prescription but you have to ask for it as they don't put it on the shelf. Old fashioned fautless blue clothing starch works great. Believe me, it works much better than anything else. Either put it a shaker container or some type of plastic container and apply it with a cotton ball. We change his diaper right away, and multiple time if needed, so we don't let him sit in it at all if possible. Poor guy but a lot better than it could be, infection is basically gone and he's doing well other that the butt rash. Have used the standard butt paste, baby powder- all the things that worked with our others- got any other ideas? Got to be on antibiotics for another 2 weeks. Hospital gave us some stuff and that helps. His area around the hole is raw and bleeds at times. He screams about 5 min before it happens and takes about 30 min to get the burn to stop. He's been on 2-3 high strength antibiotics for 8 weeks solid and he just oozes that acid poop. Well he's home now and at 10 weeks we've battled diaper rash almost constantly. Got surgery- went well developed bacterial meningitis - not a good deal. We're on our 4th baby, and here I am looking for help.
